I have a friend who has been using one of these for years and he's just as stable in a hover as I am with my fancy VKB stick. This should meet all your needs but it won't feel as nice as the VKB. I'm a little late to the party here but the issue with helicopters is that you want something with a soft centering spring, no center detent, and a good range of movement.
